Call of Duty: Vanguard Review:
Welcome to Game review this is often more of an informational Post about all or any more details of Call of Duty: Vanguard and what we all know so far.
Today we are going to look at Call of Duty: Vanguard, Call of Duty Vanguard is developed by Sledgehammer Games that have been responsible for advanced warfare or world war ii already. As usual, the game will have a single-player campaign with a playtime of about 4-6 hours a multiplayer mode with different maps and match types, and the aforementioned zombie’s mode.
Call of Duty: Vanguard Review: In addition, there will also be new content added to the free-to-play battle royal, a war zone that will be renamed in warzone pacific with the launch of the new map but let’s start with the single-player campaign vanguard takes us back to the final month of world war ii and tells the story of four soldiers Arthur, Polina, wade, and Lucas that form a task force and are trying to stop the mysterious nazi project phoenix and its leader Heinrich ryzigner
While the four protagonists are all based on real personalities from the second world war the story and the character of ryzigner are completely fictional there will be four major theaters of war with the storyline focused on the personal experiences of the soldiers instead of the monumental battles. Although Normandy landing or the battle for el element will be in the game it is more on the side.
The main part of the story will revolve around the protagonists trying to survive behind enemy lines the four main theaters are the pacific war, the german western front, the german soviet war, and the Africa campaign. The four protagonists are the British Cameroonian paratrooper Arthur Kingsley who becomes the leader of the newly formed task force the soviet nurse Paulina Petrova who is based on the soviet sniper Ludmilla pachinko also known as lady death then there’s the American fighter-pilot wade Jackson who has to find his way back to the front after crashing his plane behind enemy lines in the pacific war and there’s the Australian infantry soldier Lucas Briggs who fights in North Africa against the tank divisions of field marshal Erwin Rommel.
So vanguard tried to return to the old call of duty campaign styles where the story was told from the point of view of different characters instead of only one protagonist or unit.
Call of Duty: Vanguard Review: Gameplay-wise the single player will be linear again with not many alternative ways to follow but there are some new elements that are introduced with vanguard you can for example fire from cover when you’re crouching behind objects or climb up on selected walls which can be easily recognized by the highlighted stones also mounting your weapon is back in vanguard which will also be available in multiplayer and works the same way it did in modern warfare.
In addition, there’s a more destructible environment like wooden walls that you can break or shoot through which will also be available in the multiplayer of course this will not fundamentally change the architecture of the maps but it adds some new gameplay elements to the title.
Same with the zombie’s mode of the vanguard that is developed by Treyarch it is supposed to be a prequel to zombies in black ops cold war and our heroes have to face resurrected nazi soldiers again but this time there is a demon to blame for the rising so the team is supported by a demon expert who equips them with dark artifacts like shadow portals supernatural powers and necromancy.
The maps for zombies will consist of different parts of the multiplayer maps the multiplayer mode itself will have 20 maps at the release of which 16 are designed for the classic game modes team deathmatch, domination, search, and destroy kill confirmed and patrol while the other four maps were made for champion hill vanguard’s attempt on the gunfight mode of former titles this is a 1v1 2v2or 3v3 mode where squads fight against each other in short rounds and small arenas and then there is the patrol mode that is new as well and can be compared to hardpoint but instead of locations that change during the match it has a circular zone that is constantly moving like the cone of a searchlight stay in the zone to control it and keep enemies away from it.
Also new in multiplayer is the so-called pacing system this extension of the matchmaking system will give players the opportunity to change the intensity of matches with 3 different filters with tactical you will be matched in 6 vs 6 lobbies for the classic call of duty experience with assault the number of players per team is increased to 10 or 12 and with blitz, you will join matches with 24 players per team that can be compared to modern warfare’s ground war mode but without vehicles, according to the developers the filters can be applied to every map of the game.
Call of Duty: Vanguard Review: There will also be more attachments available for the weapons of the vanguard in fact twice as many as in cold war and modern warfare and this time the statistics menu shows directly what effect the attachments will have on weapon damage, recoil accuracy, and so on. That also means that weapon levels will be higher so you need to grind even more to max out all weapons.
Field upgrades are also available again but have been adapted to the new scenario like the little goliath for example that is based on an actual secret weapon from world war ii and there’s, of course, killstreaks again instead of scorestreaks another change to the multiplayer is that enemies that are shooting are not marked as red dots in the minimap if you want this mechanic back you need to equip the perk radar in your second perk slot and last but not least there’s warzone the free to play battle royale mode of call of duty that also gets adapted to the new part of the series with a lot of content from vanguard and the completely new map caldera that will replace verdansk on December 2nd.
The old content however is not disappearing load-outs can be created with weapons and gadgets from vanguard, cold war, and modern warfare. All unlock skins and items from previous games will stay available as well and future battle passes can be leveled up in all three titles again the complete integration of all Wenger content should be completed with the release of the new pacific map at the end of 2021.
So there have been the try facts about the game and, in general, that doesn’t sound too bad but of course, everyone who played the beta or hasn’t been living on the rock for the last few months knows that there have been loads of problems in the early builds of the game and I’m not only talking about the usual server issues or SBMM going wild one thing that was surely annoying was the bad visibility and the fact that there are no factions any more in the vanguard, that means that operators on both sides look identical which led to some confusion during the beta and made it harder to tell enemy from ally then there’s the mass of on-screen effects such as muscle flashes or smoke that look cool and realistic but can be really limiting especially in hectic situations and there were also a lot of audiobooks maps that were too big for 6 vs 6 modes or too supportive for campers and spawns in unfortunate locations to name just a few.
It is highly unlikely that the game will be technically perfect at release but let’s hope that at least some of these issues will be fixed by then the same for the new anti-cheat system ricochet and that will be released alongside the new warzone map later this year.
If this will solve the massive cheetah problem the recent titles had remains to be seen especially when it comes to the free-to-play mode warzone. Good news on the other hand for owners of a PlayStation 5 coz vanguard will make use of the new dual sense controller with its haptic features and adaptive triggers that should provide better weapon feedback and supports 3d audio. PlayStation players also receive two additional slots for custom load-outs and exclusive season content and XP bonuses.
So overall, the Call of Duty Vanguard is perfect and I would recommend this game. This game was released on Nov 5th for PC, Xbox One, Series X, S, PS4, and PS5. I hope you enjoy this review and am sorry for the late review.
