Horizon Forbidden West Review :
Welcome to the game review this is often more of an informational Post about all or any more details of the Horizon Forbidden West and what we all know so far.
Today we are going to look at Horizon Forbidden West, Before you buy you know some new details. Ben McCaw says it’s been six months since the events of horizon zero dawn and Aloy has noticed throughout the world that this red blight is encroaching everywhere, this is a world-ending threat and she has to find a way to stop it this gives us some insight into the story without really spoiling anything major moving on to the gameplay mechanics and details of the world.
Horizon Forbidden West Review: Horizon Forbidden West has a more explorable world and this starts with its scalability the environment is meant to be interacted with comparable to what you would see in a game like assassins creed this alone will make the game more immersive and allow players to find more enjoyment and exploring rather than frustrations with objects just standing in the way. Moving on, we have an improved focus mode.
The focus can be activated by clicking r3 which activates a pulse scan around alloy this will reveal resources highlight climbable objects with yellow markings and lines and it doesn’t just end their focus has been upgraded.
When it comes to the combat systems scanning a foe enables a look into different parts of the enemy which can be targeted during combat detaching after engagement scanning is no longer a slow process now you can use the d-pad to select the specified part this is further refined by tagging any specified part the player chooses moving on to traversal a major component of any game.
Aloy has gotten a huge upgrade with a pull caster this is essentially a grappling hook and works as you would expect it, the alloy also now has a shield wing and this is a glider that will let you glide through the air as you expect naturally you can use the pole caster and shield wing together making traversal even faster. Moving on to the town, NPCs quests and rewards how does this differentiate itself from the previous entry chain scrape the first little town you come across as dense with personality in every way working towards making NPCs more lifelike with better animations and better audio it distinguishes itself from different towns within the game.
Horizon Forbidden West Review: Aloy will encounter different tribes as well with behaviors and quests that are specified to the tribe making it feel like a unique experience rather than just another quest with different skin characters also interacting with one another allowing for a deeper layer giving us the perception that these characters are more alive and live day-to-day within this world.
Now with side quests, we’re not just dealing withgo here grab this from NPC number 256 each side quest comes from a notable NPC that we will have an ongoing relationship with adding to the story and world-building of the horizon forbidden west and of course, giving valuable gear and components that don’t make you feel like you wasted your valuable time.
When it comes to unique side content there are melee fight pits and vista points where yellow must line up a vision on her focus with a location in the world salvage contracts which also ask players to hunt down specified machine parts in return for valuable outfits and a mini-game machine strike it sees the player taking on opponents on a board made of various tiles representing different terrain.
Machines have different health attack and movement stats. Each type of terrain can have negative or positive impacts, as you take out your opponent’s fleets. There’s also the addition of an arena that has you go through various challenges with a mix of machines to take on this is also supported with an online leaderboard to compete with friends.
The development team feels they have made a world with objectives that are varied enough and still offer worthwhile rewards that make the player want to continue playing.
With that said they also have made the game accessible for those who want to go through the main story and nothing else naturally with a new entry, we see new skills and weapons we now have six skill trees you can work towards maxing new skills like the ability to rain arrows from above-returning skills like the ability to slow down time and more importantly valor surge abilities.
Horizon Forbidden West Review: We also have more outfits and equipment that have stab buffs adding to skill points and stat points to boost aloy in whatever way you need you also do have the ability to use workbenches to improve gear as well as the ability to store items and equipment.
The game is a complete upgrade over horizon zero dawn gameplay the world customization and more all come together to make this easily a game that no PlayStation owner should miss lastly the dual sense is completely utilized and if you enjoy the controller like I do this will be a big bonus for you 3d audio also does not miss as you can hear the movement of your characters, weapons, ambient sounds, and more make the experience that much more immersive.
This is but a small portion of the entire experience that horizon forbidden west has to offer I can’t wait to see what the full game offers and this game will be released on Feb 18th for PS5 and PS4.
