Starfield News

While we expect to hear more about Starfield sooner rather than later, the next likely prospects for additional Starfield information are the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase on June 12 or Quakecon 2022 in August. In April 2022, Hevy008, a former Bethesda character artist, uploaded leaked information regarding the Starfield beta on the Resetera forums, suggesting that it would be available “this summer.”

They also confirm the inclusion of space travel but observe that “flying is bad” and that Starfield has “an oversupply of content.” Aside from that, Starfield has a new Steam page launched last year, and the game’s main animator recently discussed the game’s “NASA-punk” look. A lot of information about Starfield was released at E3 2021 during the joint Microsoft and Bethesda webcast. Todd Howard tells the Telegraph in 2021 that Starfield is “a bit more hardcore of a role-playing game.” He also reveals that Bethesda is “returning to things we used to do in games a long time ago that we believed really allowed players express the persona they want to be.”

Starfield Story & Gameplay

Bethesda’s upcoming action RPG Starfield. The game occurs in the “Settled Systems,” a collection of space colonies. After a decades-long battle, the United Colonies and the Freestar Collective factions are experiencing a precarious state of peace in the year 2130. Players take on the role of a member of Constellation, a space exploration corporation. You can travel across the Systems and encounter diverse alien lifeforms and human adversaries. Players can participate in gunfights with space pirates in either third- or first-person mode. Players can even build and pilot their spaceships to explore the Settled Systems.

The Xbox and Bethesda game showcases provided us with a detailed look at the game’s mechanics and features. The demo begins on a bug-infested planet, where the player harvests iron in a cave before entering the Kreet Research Lab. The Crimson Fleet, one of the several factions, raids for treasure here. Because these pirates are hostile, we witness certain weapons in action, like the Grendel machine gun.

The combat appears to be pretty similar to Fallout 4, only there is no VATS mechanism to rely on. Following a briefing from the Constellation leader on an artifact we discovered, we are introduced to the other faction leaders, who explain what they stand for. We also witness more hostile aliens, ranging from dinosaur-like animals with mandibles to eldritch nightmares skulking through an abandoned facility’s halls. Todd Howard, the game’s director, then displays the character creation tool and the several Starfield backgrounds and qualities your astronaut can begin with on their voyage across the universe.

The gaming gives us a taste of Starfield’s abilities and a brief overview of the Research Laboratory initiatives. Finally, a part dedicated to Starfield base construction includes the option to design and fly your own spaceship. This starship will help explore the many Starfield planets in the known cosmos, of which Howard claims there are over 1,000.

In an interview with IGN, Howard says that Starfield uses procedural generation but that the Bethesda team “has done more handcrafting in this game, content-wise, than any previous game.” The first Starfield gaming journal discusses goals and design direction. The second Starfield gaming diary delves deeper into how Bethesda tackled building the sci-fi game. The third gameplay diary discusses how music affects a player’s experience while exploring space.

Starfield Multiplayer

While we knew Starfield would be one of Bethesda’s most ambitious RPGs, few were prepared for the announcement that the game would allow players to explore over 1,000 worlds. Of course, hearing that the game is so big made many people question if you’ll be able to explore that vast universe with friends in some kind of multiplayer or co-op option.

Historically, Bethesda RPGs have not included any type of multiplayer mode. While the firm has made several of its RPGs into multiplayer titles through spin-offs (Fallout 76 and The Elder Scrolls Online), the core RPG experiences are primarily centered on the premise that you are the star of your own journey. To be honest, there are several reasons to distrust Bethesda’s game engine’s ability to support a multiplayer experience without compromising the grandeur and design of their RPGs.

Unfortunately, the lack of meaningful multiplayer modes is another Bethesda RPG tradition that will uphold. Todd Howard of Bethesda revealed in 2020 that the game will be a single-player game. While Howard didn’t emphasize it during Starfield’s full gameplay debut, he also didn’t provide any hint that the studio’s plans for that section of the game have changed.

Starfield PS5

Todd Howard claims that Starfield has over 100 space systems, each with fully explorable planets. It sounds like a massive game one that is more than fit for next-generation consoles like the Xbox Series X/S. Microsoft announced at E3 2021 that Starfield would be an Xbox exclusive with a PC release. It will not be released on the PlayStation 5.

Starfield Release date & Platforms

The game was initially scheduled to be released on November 11, 2022. Starfield will be released in the first quarter of 2023 on Xbox Series X/S and PC. The game will also be available on Xbox Game Pass, allowing subscribers to play it as part of their subscription.
