Arcadegeddon Story

Arcadegeddon is a cooperative multiplayer game that offers a combination of PVE and PVP experiences and allows for a variety of play rates. As you go through the game, you will be able to take on additional challenges from the local “gangs” that congregate in Gilly’s Arcade. These will give you far more than just street cred. Arcadegeddon’s visual art style and tone have been described as a mix of “the Muppets, Gorillaz, and 90s punk rock.”

The visual aesthetic of Arcadegeddon is evocative of indie art games, embracing the cartoonish rainbow spectrum borrowed from the psychedelic beginnings. This is complemented by a more mature environment centered on obtaining street cred while taking on problems.

Arcadegeddon Gameplay

The plot, which forces our heroes to fight an evil virus that threatens arcade games, is intended to invoke nostalgia for vintage 90s arcade vibes. The Arcadegeddon environment is ideal for both single and multiplayer groups of up to four players, with “a combination of PVE and PVP experiences that allows for all different speeds of play.” Multiple biomes and boss modes are also included in the finished game, which tie into the conceptual mini-games that mimic the namesake arcade-style and plot. Arcadegeddon’s blend of classic gaming cliches with a modern twist is ideal for aficionados of retro gaming and the arcade world.

As a result of the appealing price and long-term observable progress, Arcadegeddon has the potential to become a niche hit. Additionally, players who have previously purchased the Early Access build will not have to pay any additional costs to play Arcadegeddon; those who pre-own the game will have their versions instantly and for free upgraded.

Arcadegeddon Character Customization

Arcadegeddon is a third-person shooter set in a vibrant cyberpunk future. Players can play alone or with up to three friends, shooting down adversaries and earning colorful goodies. The graphic style is more cartoonish, with adversaries spewing large damage figures and character customization.

In order to achieve street cred, players can take on additional challenges from local gangs. In Gilly’s Arcade, there are nine different gangs, each with its unique set of obstacles and style. Completing these challenges will unlock special abilities and skins.

Arcadegeddon PVP Mode

Arcadegeddon combines PvE and PvP aspects to allow players to collaborate while competing for top awards. To collaborate, you can swap weapons and ping things to tell everyone of, say, the quality loot you discovered. Capturing an objective point is quicker when everyone holds down the fort together, promoting even more collaboration. Your aggregate score reflects the group’s cumulative performance, and it displays on specific leaderboards for each type of team, including singles, duos, triples, and quads. The scoring at the end of rounds is a significant competitive factor.

Arcadegeddon Review: Individual performances are rated and ranked, such as who revived the most comrades or killed the most enemies. The higher your rank, the more things you get, such as special tickets that may be used to purchase new cosmetic items and weapon skins from Gilly. During my time playing online matches, I saw that this dynamic fosters a cordial sense of rivalry in which my squad worked together for the betterment of the group, but we weren’t afraid to steal the occasional kill to boost our individual stats.

Arcadegeddon Crossplay

Arcadegeddon revolves around Gilly’s Arcade, the last remaining arcade, and Gilly’s quest to preserve it from the mega-corporation, Fun Fun Co. Gilly joins all of the arcade games to make a super game, but Fun Fun Co. infects it with a virus, which is where you step in. To save the last hometown arcade, you must defeat the virus across multiple biomes and game kinds.

Arcadegeddon New Weapons & Weapon Customization

While standard weapons such as shotguns, SMGs, sniper rifles, and the like can be used to destroy enemies, Arcadegeddon’s zanier weaponry provides more inventive methods of defeating enemies. The Pixel Popper can inflate enemies with air, causing them to hilariously bulge until exploding and injuring their adjacent teammates. Another weapon fires discs that sever targets and ricochet off surfaces. Elements can also be instilled into weapons. In one game, I had an ice-buffed RPG that froze adversaries solid, allowing me to shatter them to freezing bits with the bat. Surge Gauntlet abilities are special skills that players can use in addition to their arsenal. These powerful assaults come in a variety of forms like an explosive fireball and can assist turn the tide in grave situations.

Arcadegeddon Review: These abilities have a cooldown timer, and you can get more by completing challenges for the nine different gang leaders who hang out in Gilly’s Arcade. These tasks might be as simple as opening a set number of chests or as difficult as beating a boss or hundreds of the same enemy type. Furthermore, you can improve your persona by accumulating Hacks. These are typically found in chests alongside weapons and gold and provide passive stat bonuses such as faster ally revival or greater movement speed. You can carry a large number of these at once. The best part is that duplicate improvements stack their abilities.

Arcadegeddon Levels & Skills

To preserve Gilly’s arcade from Fun Fun Fun Co, an evil mega-corporation that has destroyed the game that keeps the establishment open, players must fight as a team or solo. Players can team up with up to three pals from any platform to explore up to six different biomes and combat never-before-seen creatures with the 35 weaponry available in this cooperative adventure.

Arcadegeddon Review: The Nerve Center biome is an electrical grid with neon pulses. This map is the core of Gilly’s super game and the target of Fun Fun Co. sabotage efforts. Mystic Isles has the sense of a tropical hideaway island. The temples were built by an unknown entity and are home to an ancient magical presence. Aftermath is the final biome to be released in Early Access today. Aftermath is a vaguely futuristic city that has been mostly destroyed by conflict and is now being reclaimed by nature. Each is unique, and each run will be different owing to the game’s ever-changing quality.

Arcadegeddon Local & Online Multiplayer Mode

Online Multiplayer

Arcadegeddon is a co-op multiplayer experience that offers a mix of PVE and PVP experiences and allows for a variety of play rates. This ever-changing multiplayer shooter lets you play solo or with up to three friends to explore diverse biomes, mini-games, and secret chests, and overcome a variety of monster kinds and boss levels.

Local Multiplayer

Arcadegeddon is a cooperative multiplayer game that offers a combination of PVE and PVP experiences and allows for a variety of play rates. As you go through the game, you will be able to take on additional challenges from the local “gangs” that congregate in Gilly’s Arcade. These will give you far more than just street cred. Earn your street cred by climbing the leaderboards.

Arcadegeddon Graphics & Visuals

Arcadegeddon has a cartoonish appearance and is allegedly inspired by Muppets, Gorillaz, and 90’s punk rock – it’s a millennial’s nostalgic dream. The graphics aren’t spectacular, and the gameplay doesn’t appear to be particularly innovative. It does appear a little stiff.

However, as previously stated, I am a sucker for multiplayer shooters that I can play with my pals. And Arcadegeddon appears to be delivering on that front. You can explore numerous biomes alone or with up to three friends, killing foes and bosses, discovering hidden chests, and participating in mini-games.

Arcadegeddon Release date & Platform & Price

Arcadegeddon is approaching early access and will be released on PC and consoles soon.

Illfonic has officially confirmed that the elegant co-op shooter’s version 1.0 will be released on July 5, 2022, for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Later this summer, a physical release will be available. Arcadegeddon is a low-cost title that costs only $19.99.
