Star Ocean The Divine Force Story

Star Ocean The Divine Force is an action role-playing game published by Square Enix and developed by tri-Ace.

The Divine Force is the most recent installment in the Star Ocean series, which combines sci-fi and fantasy motifs with anime characters. The protagonists are Raymond, the captain of the space merchant ship Ydas, and Laeticia, the princess-knight of a kingdom on the poor planet Aster IV. Combat is action-based, with players having direct control over any of the three party members.

Characters can jump into the skies and drop into adversaries for great damage, which costs recharging AP points. This is the most recent demo, with Valkyrie Elysium, Harvestella, and The Diofield Chronicle also receiving pre-release demos.

Star Ocean The Divine Force Gameplay and Combat

Star Ocean The Divine Force Review: Dual protagonists will be featured in Star Ocean The Second Story. Depending on who the player chooses, the events of the story will unfold from a different perspective: Raymond’s perceptions give more sci-fi knowledge, whereas Laeticia focuses more on fantasy themes.

The companions who join the group will differ based on the protagonist picked, and both have endings dedicated to all party members. Parties are made up of four people plus two reserve members. The transition from exploration to battle is smooth, so players can begin cutting and hitting opponents whenever they want. Combat skills, the series’ special arts, and symbols all cost AP to perform, and the maximum AP available varies based on battle conditions.

Chain Combo shortcuts allow you to select a sequence and activate it faster than doing each action individually.

Stop Mode allows players to freeze the screen in order to provide directions to friends, alter targets, and carefully plot strategy. Stats, elements, and status effects are all back.

Characters evolve by consuming SP obtained by leveling up and enhancing previously taught talents or learning totally new ones from their separate Skill Trees.

Star Ocean The Divine Force combat gameplay in a mission report demonstrating how D.U.M.A. plays a role in everything.

The mission report includes a variety of topics, most notably the fighting, in which D.U.M.A. plays an important role. According to the video, D.U.M.A. will provide the party members with specific skills, and the defining element of D.U.M.A. in combat is access to the Vanguard Assault hardware or VA.

In the Star Ocean game, D.U.M.A.’s Vanguard Assault gives the travel party a “broad range of powers and utility,” such as the Flight ability. It can be utilized for traversal in towns and the wilds, as well as incorporated into combinations. D.U.M.A. may use a range of powerful VA strikes in combat, including Ally Recovery and Enemy Analysis.

Star Ocean The Divine Force Field & Battle and Stop Mode

Star Ocean The Divine Force Review: Traveling across these locations is more smooth and more enjoyable than ever before in the series. In addition to complete 360-degree movement on the ground, all characters have the capacity to fly.

When you come upon a monster, the battle begins immediately. There are no loading screens for battle venues, so you can get right into the action. The world is your battleground, whether you’re on a high precipice or in a thickly packed city.

The maximum amount of AP available changes depending on the circumstances of the battle. You can employ a wider range of skills by increasing the overall quantity of AP available. Battles in STAR OCEAN THE DIVINE FORCE are thrillingly fast-paced, but you can switch to Stop Mode if you need some time to contemplate.

The first highlights the plot with a montage of clips that sets the tone for what’s to come in the sci-fi title, while the playthrough reel focuses on the combat mechanics, which include a four-member party system, a Stop Mode that allows players to switch between real-time battle and pause the action to change tactics, and a Chain Combo system.

Players will also be able to spend AP to conduct special attacks, with some battle actions temporarily increasing the maximum AP. Combat is real-time, with fast movements like chain attacks that greatly benefit from battlefield contextual positioning.

While they haven’t officially rejected it, there’s no reason to believe Star Ocean The Divine Force will have multiplayer. JRPGs often does not include multiplayer, and fans generally do not want them to.

Star Ocean The Divine Force Graphics and Visuals

Star Ocean The Divine Force Review: The graphics are adequate for the task at hand, with anime-styled character models reminiscent of those seen in Star Ocean The Last Hope. However, the open-area environments are a bit of a mixed bag. While some boast stunning views, others feel very generic.

The art team did an excellent job of emphasizing the landmarks. However, some compromises had to be made in order to make these locations exciting to explore while maintaining their individual personalities.

I’ll go into more detail about the new exploration mechanics later, but based on what the demo shows, I’m thinking a design decision was made to focus more on making the zones exciting to play through and less on keeping areas continually gorgeous and unique.

Star Ocean The Divine Force Release date and Platforms

Star Ocean The Divine Force will be released on October 27, 2022, for the PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
